Is Yui autistic? Or is she just a klutz? I explore the ambiguity and beauty of Yui's (rather smooth (affectionate)) brain
Ummm...
After cute magical girls and depressed magical girls, Japan presents - raunchy magical girls! Gushing over Magical Girls (MahoAko) is the latest take on the magical girl genre and has defied all expectations of what a magical girl show should be. It's titillating, amusing, and embarrassing even when it is second-hand.
Sorry, Witch from Mercury fans
2023 sure brought a lot of fun and exciting anime. This is a listing of my favourite anime this year, and thus depends on what I watched. If your favourite show isn't here, chances are it's simply because I didn't watch it (I do have to study after all).
Putting a lid on the debate
Steins;Gate holds a special place in my heart. Behind the wacky sci-fi, crazy plot twists and solid world-building, you find a heartfelt story of a man faced with decisions which impact his friends and himself. It is a story of self-reflection, of what is really important to you, and how far are you willing to go for it. One character who always intrigued me was Urushibara Ruka, the unassuming temple girl, but who, as protagonist Okabe Rintaro describes, is "a guy". Anime isn't new to femboys, but Ruka cannot be pigeonholed into such categorization. I wish to answer the question - Who is Ruka?
How Clannad's ending is consistent with its themes and plot
Clannad and Clannad After Story are together one of the most powerful series ever. The raw emotion it extracts out of you, especially in the second half of After Story is truly unparalleled. The ending, however, divides the fanbase. Some view it as being foreshadowed enough to be accepted as a possible scenario in the universe. Others view it as a deus ex machina. In this article, I'll be showing why the ending is appropriate.
